How Ethiopian Standardized National Examinations Achieve their Goal? 2014/15 University Entrance Examination Exam in Focus

The main purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness items 2014/15 university entrance examination English language based on parameters facility value and discrimination index. has used a descriptive research design concerned with quantitative methods which reveal statistical result exam. data were collected from database National Educational Assessment Examination Agency (NEAEA). covered all 120 Ethiopian University Entrance (EUEE). One-fourth examinees’ i.e. 40,400 results taken for analysis. Secondary also in analysis process. analyzed quantitatively. Within two item analysis, namely, index study; categorized into four ranges their effectiveness. Findings revealed that 33 very difficult, 27 not discriminating at all. findings high numbers EUEE functioning as expected, directs many be either discarded or improved. This meant yearly implementation post-test is required better preparation functional standardized exam next periods.
